I use hockey pucks for fabric weights instead of pins. Any other odd sewing tips and tricks out there??

NOTION IDEAS

I use a cutting board when I have to cut off pants or a skirt. I have found it is so much easier to have the garment in my lap, I can do a neater job.

I use cat food tins for fabric weights...

Tinsnips are great for cutting both flat steel and plastic boning, but you need a model drill and cutting disks for metal to cut spiral steel.

Keep a nice clean hammer for hammering grommets into sewing.

Here's a pattern for some weights you make yourself, using pennies for the weight.
I thought they were cute.

Hi Kate, a friend mounted a pair of heavy bolt cutters to a bench with a bar fixed to a foot pedal for my spiral boning cutting needs . . . mind it has been a few years now since I last needed it, but when I was making a lot or corsets it really did make cutting boning to size so much easier and faster.
I stuck a lid to the front right hand corner of my industrial machines to keep bobbins and presser feet I'm using for the job at hand . . . it stops them from vibrating off my machine. I also keep my palm clippers on a string around my neck.
I sew therefore I am, Cyndy Kitt

I have a set of four 4" G clamps: great as fabric clamps and invaluable for holding epaulets together while glue sets...
