Necchi jams before it even starts

Postby richard.krone » Wed Jun 29, 2011 2:01 pm

Hello:

I am using my partners Necchi portable sewing machine. Not a cabinet model.

When I try to sew anything with the presser foot in the down position the machine jams or rather it makes the whine of a motor trying to turn but doesn't. If I leave the foot in the up position and just run it without any cloth it runs fine. Of course that does not help because I am just watching it run the threads. So I know that the machine does allow the needle to go up and down and that there is not some larger mechanical jam.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this?

Thank you,
richard

Richard,

5 months and no answer to your question. I hope you figured it out and all is well on the Necchi.

What I would is to check the belt. It sounds to my mechanical mind that it's either stretched or worn and the motor can no longer can turn the works.
A good cleaning and lubing cant hurt either.

Wife says to check the feed dog adjustments as well.
