Need help with my brand-new old sewing machine

Postby TheJadeGirl » Thu Aug 11, 2011 2:48 pm

The other day my boyfriend brought home an old sewing machine for me. I personally have never used a sewing machine, have no idea how to sew, but I'm really interested in learning. I don't know anything about sewing machines, so the first thing I set out to do is try to find a manual for my sewing machine. The only problem is, I don't exactly know what kind of sewing machine I have. Below is a picture of my sewing machine. If anyone could tell me what it is just by looking at it, great. Or if there's some other way I could find out what it is, that's fine too.

If we find out what sewing machine this is, my next question is if there are any suggestions on where to find the manual for this machine?

Also, there are three cords that I can plug into an outlet coming from this machine. One is long enough to reach a wall outlet, and the other two are just kind of hanging there awkwardly, too short to go anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas what this is all about?

Thanks is advance :D

Can you post a pic of the back of the machine, and the three cords?

The machine looks like a Japanese 1950's built Type 15 clone.

Here's a picture of the back of the machine:

And here are the three cords (I'm holding up the longer one, the cord near the two dangling ones is for the longer plug):

I also tried to take a picture of where the two dangling cords attach too, but it's too dark (I need to hunt for a flashlight). Basically, if I'm facing the machine, the two cords are coming from the bottom of the machine, in the further right hand corner.

Thanks for all the help! :)
