American Rotary Model R40 Sewing Machine

Yesterday, I acquired an American Rotary Model R40 sewing machine and cabinet from my aunt that's in very nice condition. I'll have to get it cleaned, lubed and set up. Looks like it may have been manufactured some time in the late '40's, and should be an interesting find.

Well, I replaced the ~12" frayed electrical cord to the knee pedal Thursday evening, and finally got the chance of lubing the machine this morning. Afterwards, I gave it a dry run, and it cruised along like a champ. My sister insists on finishing the set up of the machine so I'll leave it for her when she returns from Arkansas tomorrow.
